Prayer
The Blessing of Winter.
The season of winter has ended, let us give thanks for the many quiet blessings of this season.
We give thanks for the blessing of winter: Season to cherish the heart.
To make warmth and quiet for the heart.
To make soups and broths for the heart.
To cook for the heart and read for the heart.
To curl up softly and nestle with the heart.
To sleep deeply and gently at one with the heart.
To dream with the heart.
To spend time with the heart.
A long, long time of peace with the heart.
We give thanks for the blessing of winter: Season to cherish the heart.
Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter.
Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it.
May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith.
May we be planted and grounded in love and grow in all ways into Christ.
President’s Report
My dear Tamil catholic association member,
The first month of our new committee had been hectic where TCAV had been able to get few activities rolling.
We have formed the Youth forum with quite a number of active youngsters giving their names. We had the vision presentation by pastoral carer for youth Rev.Fr. Joseph Amal to the TCAV committee on the 13th of August. We are grateful to Fr. Joseph for taking an active role in this project and we are encouraged by the number of youth who is willing to contribute their fair share. TCAV kindly ask all our parents who have children/youth in the age range of 15 -30 unmarried to give their names to our mailing address tcavinfo@gmail.com. As one parent quipped “when the children go for the youth meetings they go with an unwillingness, but when they return you could see the happiness in their faces”. It helps them to form new friendships, different environment, new practices, New thoughts and much more they gain. So parents please give your best for the welfare of our children.
We had Madhu Feast celebrated on the 21st of August and a large gathering participated in the prayers at this historical feast. This year we had representation from the Sri Lanka high commission in Australia through the Consular General of Melbourne. We thank all who participated in the feast mass, fellowship and for your contributions. The collections made through the madhu feast mass in the year 2015-2016 was AUD$ 1500 which was sent to the mission house in Pampaimadhu in the Mannar district in Sri Lanka for the rebuilding of the church which was affected during the war in Sri Lanka. This year’s collection too will be sent to one of the churches who needs our help in the mannar district.
We had the privilege of welcoming two newly ordained priests of the MGL(missionaries of Gods Love) community at our monthly mass at Bundoora. Rev.Fr. Rembert Fernando and Rev.Fr. Anthony Santhiyagu had been helping TCAV by regular visits to our monthly masses and youth programs. We thank all who participated in the ordination mass and at the Bundora mass.
We had our youngsters doing the cake stall in our August mass in Dandenong. We had a big sale and made AUD$ 237.75 which will be used to develop new programs and activities.
We will also make every effort to ensure our website to engage and entice our readers. Nirmala Alphonse of our committee has taken the initiative to develop the website and your suggestions are most welcome and we thank Nirmala for her dedication.
I am delighted to contribute my services and shoulder the responsibility to serve the community as a servant of god.
I will be transparent in all our activities and engagements with our members through the newsflash.
God Bless
Tyrone Gnanapragasam
President TCAV

Dear members, It was delighted to see our youngsters involved in the fundraiser by selling cupcakes. Although the cakes were not priced, our community was generous in donating.
